Learning SEO - Introduction to SEO (Search Engine Optimization)

Hello Friends.

From last 10 Days I am trying hard to learn SEO whenever I get time.

I will love to share whatever I am learning with you people.

Indeed, This will help me as a revision and my readers will be able to get all stuff together instead of wondering all over the web plus my personalized inputs which i have learned with my experiences.

So lets get started.

First What is SEO?

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization.

Hmmm... let me go back and tell you first how SEO came in to the picture so that you can understand it better.

When there was no Search Engine in the world then the only way to open web is to directly enter its address. Address here is web address or web link or URL (Uniform Resource Locator) that is

As the content on web increased there was a need to help out people searching the web.

So Google Search Engine Came in to picture more then a decade ago. Soon Google became the place for hunting the contents over the web. Few more followed like Yahoo, and recently Microsoft as "Bing"

People use these Search Engines to find whatever they are looking for. Say for example "A home in Mumbai" or "Mobile Phone"

So what Search Engine actually does??

Well, based on your search query (the word or list of words which you enter in the search box) the Search Engine (Google, Yahoo, Bing etc) Searches the content all over the web and based on its own logic (algorithm) it returns the result. It lists the websites accordingly based on relevance on its search result page.

Search Results which appears on top positions obviously gets more attention and clicks. The website which ranks at No. 1 takes away approx 65% of traffic followed by some 20% by rank 2 and Rank 3. and rest is shared by some 7 results on top page. Results on consecutive pages are literally dumped as hardly very few visitors bother to go to next pages unless they are doing some extensive research on a particular topic.

With eCommerce coming in to the picture the business started running on web. Soon web has become a great source of Income. Many companies makes a million dollar on web.
So when it became all about money being on top in search results became worth. Those who get on top ranks make more business then anyone else. Also with almost everyone using these search engines to find there stuff it has become obvious for these business firms to get on top in these lists.

So few questions which were raised

How these search engines works?
How to get on top?

The answers to these questions (I will share the answers in later parts) gave birth to SEO (Search Engine Optimization) which itself has became an industry.

There is a flood of organization and individuals who do SEO to promote business of there clients. SEO is also appearing as one of the fastest outsourcing industry in India.

Business across US, UK, Europe, Australia are reaching out destinations like India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Philippines, Indonesia for SEO.

So SEO has evolved as an Industry. Though it can said a part of Software Industry.

So Learning SEO is all about learning ways to make money.

SEO knowledge can be great help for guys looking to promote there business on web.

SEO are of two types in General.

1. Onsite SEO.
2. Offsite SEO.

Onsite SEO is nothing but making a website Search Engine Friendly.
but now-a-days just onsite SEO does not work and you need to do Offsite SEO.
But proper onsite SEO must be done to bear better results.

Offsite SEO are other measures taken to bring your website on Top. This includes and is not limited to Blogging, Bookmarking, Website Submission to directories, Link Exchange, use of Social Media's like Facebook, Twitter etc. Also there are paid advertising options available which brings your website on top via ads on these Search Engines.

I will like to detail the things further in next posts.

Keep in Touch.

Warm Regards,
Navneet Singh Chauhan.

My Creative Market shop is not only a shop: its kind of a play area that gives me a chance to practice and sharpen my outline aptitudes.
